Fall Open House
This year, the Fall Open House will be a virtual event held on Nov 18, 2021 via Zoom. We will not have a cap to the number of attendees. The GRAD-MAP will reach out to you via e-mail with more details about the talks and the broadcasting link closer to the event.
Fall recruitment is the first of the three-pronged plan for GRAD-MAP. The Open House is an event at the University of Maryland at College Park to advertise the Winter Workshop program to visiting undergraduates. During this “Open House,” there will be talks by astronomy and physics faculty, networking with UMCP graduate students, and a discussion on what graduate school is and why someone might want to go (see the Graduate School Presentation below). This event is for students who are interested in applying to the Winter Workshop and want to know more. We have ~20 slots for students from the DMV area. We know that students might find it daunting to attend an event like this, but we’ll have plenty of friendly faces around and a free catered dinner. Due to the dinner, we must have students RSVP with a mini application. Please note that only students who have a confirmed RSVP can attend this event and will be provided with dinner. This event is *not* open to the public.
